Quick answer

Is it worth going to Turkey?

Breast augmentation in Turkey commonly costs from about £3,000 for an all inclusive package, often a half or less of UK private pricing for comparable work. Turkey has a very high volume cosmetic surgery sector and many experienced plastic surgeons, and at a clinic where a qualified surgeon operates in an accredited hospital, results can be very good. The real cost is the travel and the long term, because implants need monitoring and most people face further surgery one day.

Costs below are indicative ranges, reviewed July 2025, and vary by the implant type, the surgeon, whether a lift is added, and what a package includes. They are not a quote and not a promise of a result.

What it really costs here

The price in Turkey, honestly.

In Turkey an all inclusive breast augmentation package typically runs from about £3,000 to £4,200, which is roughly $3,800 to $5,300, and surgery only quotes can start lower at around £1,800 without travel and hotel. Price is driven by the implant brand and type, whether a lift is combined, and the surgeon and facility. Adding a lift commonly pushes the total to around £4,300 to £5,900.

Indicative ranges, reviewed July 2025. Not a quote. A price far below the rest of the market often means a less experienced surgeon, a non accredited theatre, or unbranded implants you cannot trace.

The realistic experience

The trip, recovery and the follow up problem.

Breast augmentation is real surgery, not a fly in, fly out procedure. Plan to stay in Turkey for a meaningful recovery before flying, because flights soon after surgery raise the risk of deep vein thrombosis. Expect a support garment for weeks, no heavy lifting early on, and a final shape that settles over months as the implants drop into place.

01

Days 1 to 3

Surgery is under general anaesthetic. Expect soreness, tightness across the chest, swelling and a fitted support bra worn almost constantly.

02

Week 1 to 2

Swelling eases and stitches settle. Light walking is encouraged to lower clot risk. Most people are not ready to fly in the first week.

03

Day 7 to 10

Many surgeons advise waiting about one week or more before flying. Confirm your own clearance to fly directly with the operating surgeon.

04

Weeks to months

Implants settle and soften and the shape refines over three to six months. Scars fade gradually and final position is judged over months.

The follow up problem

Once home, a problem such as infection, a firm capsule around an implant, or a position you are unhappy with is hard to manage from another country. Local surgeons are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work, so agree before you travel exactly how reviews and any revision will be handled.

Insurance and complication cover

Standard travel insurance rarely covers elective cosmetic surgery or its complications. Read the policy closely and consider dedicated medical complications cover before you book.

The risks of travelling here

What can go wrong.

Breast augmentation is common and generally safe in good hands, but it is major surgery with implants you keep for years. The risks scale with the surgery itself and with the distance you travel afterward. Understand these before you commit.

Clots from flying after surgery

Surgery and long flights both raise the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Allow real recovery time and get written clearance to fly.

Capsular contracture

Scar tissue can tighten around an implant, making the breast firm, painful or distorted. It can appear months or years later and may need further surgery.

Infection and bleeding

Infection, a collection of blood, or wound healing problems are possible and may surface days after you fly home, when help is far away.

Implant problems over time

Implants can rupture, leak or move, and they are not lifetime devices. Keep your implant card and plan for monitoring and likely future surgery.

Changed sensation and scarring

Nipple and skin sensation can change, sometimes lastingly, and every augmentation leaves a scar. No honest surgeon promises an exact size or shape.

How to choose safely in Turkey

Five questions before you pay.

We do not name clinics. Use these to judge any clinic in Turkey you are sent to, and treat vague answers, pressure to book, and prices far below the market as the warning signs that matter most.

1
Is the surgeon a qualified plastic surgeon?
Ask for registration with the Turkish Medical Association and specialist training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, not a general practitioner doing cosmetic work.
2
Is the hospital or theatre accredited?
Look for the Ministry of Health International Health Tourism Authorization, and JCI accreditation at larger hospitals. Augmentation belongs in a proper, equipped theatre with anaesthetic support.
3
Which implant is used, and is it CE marked?
Ask for the implant brand, type and profile, and proof it is CE marked. Get the implant card with batch numbers so the device can be traced later.
4
Who gives the anaesthetic, and what monitoring is there?
A qualified anaesthetist and full monitoring matter for surgery of this size. Confirm this is included, not an optional extra.
5
What happens if I need a review or revision at home?
Get the aftercare plan, garment guidance and revision terms in writing, including who pays and how a revision works once you are back home.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

Is breast augmentation in Turkey safe?

At an accredited hospital where a qualified plastic surgeon operates with proper anaesthetic support, it can be safe and the results good. Risk rises with non accredited theatres, untraceable implants, and flying home too soon. This page is here to help you tell a careful clinic from a risky one.

Why is it so much cheaper in Turkey?

Mostly lower labour, facility and overhead costs and a competitive market, not lower quality by default. A price far below the rest of the market, though, can signal a less experienced surgeon or unbranded implants.

How long should I stay in Turkey after surgery?

Plan for a stay of roughly one to two weeks. Many surgeons advise waiting that long before flying because of clot risk. Always confirm your own clearance to fly with the operating surgeon.

Do breast implants last forever?

No. Implants are not lifetime devices. They can rupture or harden over the years, and most people need further surgery at some point. Budget for monitoring and the possibility of future revision wherever you live.

Will I be able to breastfeed afterward?

Many people can, but augmentation can affect breastfeeding and nipple sensation, depending on the technique. Discuss your plans with the surgeon before deciding on the approach.
