Implants are not lifetime devices. Most need replacing or removing at some point, and that future surgery is far away if you operate abroad.
Quick answer

Is the UAE worth it?

Breast augmentation in the United Arab Emirates commonly costs from about £5,300, roughly AED 25,000, up to around £8,500, which overlaps with UK private pricing rather than undercutting it. The UAE is a premium, tightly regulated market, so people tend to choose it for the standard of facilities and the chance to combine surgery with travel, not for a deep saving. Implants add volume and change shape, but they are medical devices that do not last forever, which is the part most worth thinking through before you fly.

Costs below are indicative ranges, reviewed May 2025, and vary with the implant type, the surgeon, and what a package includes. They are not a quote and not a promise of a result.

What it really costs

The price in the UAE, honestly.

The UAE is a premium market and prices sit close to UK private levels. The figure depends on the implant type, with silicone usually costing more than saline, the surgeon, and the facility. Treat the UAE as a quality and convenience choice rather than a budget one.

Confirm in writing the implant type and brand, the currency, and whether garments and reviews are included. Ask what a future replacement would cost, since implants do not last forever.

The real experience

Recovery, and the follow up.

Breast augmentation is done under general anaesthetic and takes around one to two hours. The surgeon places an implant, silicone or saline, either under the breast tissue or under the chest muscle, through an incision usually in the breast fold or around the areola. Most people stay in the UAE for about five to seven days so the surgeon can review the wounds, fit a support garment, and confirm you are safe to fly.

Expect soreness, tightness and swelling, and plan to wear a support bra for several weeks. The implants often sit high at first and drop into a more natural position over three to six months. Desk work usually resumes within one to two weeks, and heavier activity after several weeks on your surgeon advice. You will be given a record of the implant make, model and serial number, which you should keep safe for the future.

The follow up is the harder part of going abroad. An implant can need attention years later, and a problem such as capsular contracture, where scar tissue tightens around the implant, is awkward to manage once home. Agree how reviews and any revision will be handled before you travel, keep your implant documents, and line up a local doctor for urgent care. Standard travel insurance rarely covers elective surgery or its complications.

The risks of travelling here

What can go wrong.

Breast augmentation is common and generally safe, but implants are devices that carry their own long term risks. Travelling for it adds a layer of its own.

Implants do not last forever

Implants are not lifetime devices. Many people need a replacement or removal at some point, which means more surgery and more cost in the future.

Capsular contracture

Scar tissue can tighten around an implant, causing firmness, distortion or discomfort, and sometimes needs further surgery to correct.

Rupture and leakage

An implant can rupture over time. Ask how this would be detected and managed, since monitoring and any exchange surgery are harder to arrange from abroad.

Rare implant associated conditions

Certain textured implants have been linked to a rare cancer of the immune system, and some people report a cluster of symptoms sometimes called breast implant illness. Discuss the implant type and the current evidence with your surgeon.

Changes in sensation and bleeding or infection

Nipple sensation can change, sometimes permanently, and bleeding or infection around a fresh implant is uncommon but serious and harder to reach once you are home.

The travelling risk

A complication after you land is the central problem of going abroad. Local surgeons may be reluctant to take on another clinic work, so settle aftercare, guarantee and revision terms in writing first.

How to choose safely here

Questions before you pay.

A safe clinic answers all of these in writing without flinching. Vague answers, pressure to book quickly, and prices far below the market are the warning signs that matter most. We never name a clinic, so use these to judge any you are sent.

1
Is the surgeon licensed by the UAE health regulator?
Doctors must be licensed by the relevant authority, the DHA in Dubai, the DoH in Abu Dhabi, or MOHAP in the northern emirates. Ask for the name and licence, and confirm the named surgeon performs your operation.
2
What implant make and model will be used?
Ask for the brand, type and a written record of the make, model and serial number, and what warranty the manufacturer offers.
3
Is the facility licensed for general anaesthetic?
Ask about the licence of the hospital or day surgery unit, who gives the anaesthetic, and how an emergency is handled. Many UAE hospitals also hold international accreditation such as JCI.
4
What size and placement suit my body?
A careful surgeon advises a size and placement that suits your frame and tissue rather than simply agreeing to the largest implant you ask for.
5
What will a future replacement involve?
Since implants do not last forever, ask what monitoring is advised and what a replacement or removal would cost and require down the line.
6
What happens if I need a revision?
Get the revision and guarantee terms in writing, including who pays and whether a second trip is needed.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

Is breast augmentation in the UAE safe?

At a licensed UAE facility where a licensed plastic surgeon operates, outcomes can be comparable to home. Risk rises with weak aftercare and bargain hunting. This guide helps you tell a careful clinic from a risky one.

Will it be cheaper than the UK?

Usually not. Indicative UAE pricing of about £5,300 to £8,500, reviewed May 2025, overlaps with UK private pricing. People choose the UAE for facilities and regulation, not a large saving.

How long do implants last?

Implants are not lifetime devices. Many people need a replacement or removal at some point, so plan for the possibility of future surgery, which is harder to manage if you operated abroad.

How long do I need to stay?

Most people stay about five to seven days for review and a garment fitting before flying. Your surgeon will tell you when it is safe to fly.

What records should I keep?

Keep the written record of the implant make, model and serial number, plus your operation notes. A local doctor will need these if you have a problem in the future.
