Removing implants without a lift often leaves the breast looser and emptier than before. Decide early whether you also want a lift.
Quick answer

Is the UAE worth it?

Breast implant removal in the United Arab Emirates commonly costs from about £3,200, roughly AED 15,000, up to around £5,300, which overlaps with UK private pricing. The UAE is a premium, tightly regulated market, so people tend to choose it for the standard of facilities and the chance to combine surgery with travel rather than for a deep saving. Removal is straightforward in principle, but what the breast looks like afterwards depends on your tissue and whether the scar capsule is removed and a lift is added, so plan the whole operation, not just taking the implant out.

Costs below are indicative ranges, reviewed October 2025, and vary with whether the capsule is removed, whether a lift is added, and what a package includes. They are not a quote and not a promise of a result.

What it really costs

The price in the UAE, honestly.

The UAE is a premium market and prices sit close to UK private levels. Simple removal costs less than removal with full capsule removal, and adding a lift raises the price again. Be clear which operation you are quoted for, because removal alone and removal with a lift are very different procedures.

Confirm in writing whether the capsule is removed, whether a lift is included, the currency, and what reviews cost. If you suspect a ruptured implant, say so, since that changes the operation.

The real experience

Recovery, and the follow up.

Breast implant removal is done under general anaesthetic and takes around one to two hours, longer if the scar capsule around the implant is also removed, which is called a capsulectomy. The surgeon usually works through the original scar where possible. Some people have removal alone, some have removal with a lift to retighten the breast, and some choose a replacement implant. Most stay in the UAE for about five to seven days so the surgeon can review the wounds, fit a support garment, and confirm you are safe to fly.

Expect soreness, swelling and bruising, and plan to wear a support bra for several weeks. The breast often looks deflated or loose at first, and the tissue softens and settles over three to six months. How close it returns to its former shape depends on how long the implants were in, your skin quality and the size removed. Desk work usually resumes within one to two weeks, and heavier activity after several weeks on your surgeon advice.

The follow up is the harder part of going abroad. Wound healing, fluid collecting where the implant was, or disappointment with the shape are awkward to manage once home. Agree how reviews and any revision will be handled before you travel, line up a local doctor for urgent care, and do not fly too soon. Standard travel insurance rarely covers elective surgery or its complications.

The risks of travelling here

What can go wrong.

Implant removal is generally safe, but it is real surgery and the cosmetic result is not always what people expect. Travelling for it adds a layer of its own.

Looser, emptier breasts

Without a lift, the breast is often looser and flatter after removal, especially if implants were large or in for many years. This is the change people are least prepared for.

Fluid collection and bleeding

Fluid can gather in the space the implant leaves behind, and bleeding or a haematoma can occur. Both are uncommon but harder to manage once you are home.

Infection and wound healing

Infection and slow healing at the incision are uncommon but serious, and prompt care is harder to reach from abroad.

If the capsule or a ruptured implant is involved

Removing the scar capsule, or dealing with a ruptured implant, is a bigger operation with a longer recovery. Make sure the surgeon knows the full picture and that any removed tissue can be examined if needed.

Changes in sensation and scarring

Nipple or skin sensation can change, and you may be left with a scar, particularly if a lift is added. Ask what scarring to expect.

The travelling risk

A complication after you land is the central problem of going abroad. Local surgeons may be reluctant to take on another clinic work, so settle aftercare, guarantee and revision terms in writing first.

How to choose safely here

Questions before you pay.

A safe clinic answers all of these in writing without flinching. Vague answers, pressure to book quickly, and prices far below the market are the warning signs that matter most. We never name a clinic, so use these to judge any you are sent.

1
Is the surgeon licensed by the UAE health regulator?
Doctors must be licensed by the relevant authority, the DHA in Dubai, the DoH in Abu Dhabi, or MOHAP in the northern emirates. Ask for the name and licence, and confirm the named surgeon performs your operation.
2
Will the scar capsule be removed?
Ask whether the capsule is left, partly removed or fully removed, and why, since this changes the size of the operation and the recovery.
3
Do I need a lift at the same time?
If you want to avoid loose, empty breasts, ask whether a lift is advised, what it adds, and the trade offs, so you can give informed consent.
4
Is the facility licensed for general anaesthetic?
Ask about the licence of the hospital or day surgery unit, who gives the anaesthetic, and how an emergency is handled. Many UAE hospitals also hold international accreditation such as JCI.
5
What will the breast realistically look like afterwards?
A careful surgeon gives an honest view of the likely shape given your tissue and history, rather than promising the look you had before implants.
6
What happens if I need a revision?
Get the revision and guarantee terms in writing, including who pays and whether a second trip is needed.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

Is breast implant removal in the UAE safe?

At a licensed UAE facility where a licensed plastic surgeon operates, outcomes can be comparable to home. Risk rises with weak aftercare and bargain hunting. This guide helps you tell a careful clinic from a risky one.

Will it be cheaper than the UK?

Usually not by much. Indicative UAE pricing of about £3,200 to £5,300, reviewed October 2025, overlaps with UK private pricing. People choose the UAE for facilities and regulation, not a large saving.

Will my breasts look like they did before implants?

Not always. Without a lift, the breast is often looser and emptier than before, especially after large or long standing implants. A lift can improve the shape but adds scarring and cost.

Does the capsule need to come out too?

Sometimes. Whether the scar capsule is left or removed depends on your case, and removing it makes the operation bigger. Ask your surgeon what is advised and why.

How long do I need to stay?

Most people stay about five to seven days for review and a garment fitting before flying. Your surgeon will tell you when it is safe to fly.
