Gynecomastia surgery cost, the honest figure.

Quick answer

What does it really cost?

Gynecomastia surgery abroad at hubs such as Turkey commonly costs from about $2,000 to $3,500, often as an inclusive package, against roughly £3,000 to £6,000 privately in the United Kingdom, where the NHS rarely funds it. In the United States it typically runs $4,000 to $8,000, and more than $10,000 in some cities. The work usually combines liposuction with removal of firm breast tissue.

Ranges are indicative, reviewed December 2025, and vary with the grade of gynecomastia, whether tissue as well as fat is removed, and what the package covers. They are not a quote.

What it costs by country

The price, by destination.

Most operations combine liposuction of fatty tissue with excision of the firmer gland behind the nipple. A quote that only prices liposuction may not fix true gynecomastia, so confirm what the surgeon plans to do.

Indicative ranges, reviewed 21 June 2026, drawn from published cost guides. Not a quote and not a promise of a result. Currency and what a package covers vary, so always confirm in writing.

WhereIndicative range, surgeryWhat to know
Popular hubs, e.g. Turkey$2,000 to $3,500Often inclusive of a hospital night, garment, medication, and transfers. Around €2,700 to €4,200.
United Kingdom, private£3,000 to £6,000Higher in London. The NHS funds it only in limited, specific cases.
United States, private$4,000 to $8,000Major cities can exceed $10,000. Anaesthetic and facility are often extra.

Sources include published abroad, UK, and United States cost guides. Confirm whether the plan includes removing breast tissue, not only liposuction of fat.

What drives the price

Why two quotes differ.

A headline number means little until you know what sits behind it. These are the things that move the price up or down, and the ones worth questioning when a quote looks too good.

1
Grade and what is removed
True gynecomastia needs the firm gland removed, not only fat. The more tissue and the higher the grade, the more involved and costly the surgery.
2
Liposuction only or excision too
A liposuction only quote is cheaper but may leave the firm tissue behind. Confirm the plan matches your diagnosis.
3
Anaesthetic and stay
General anaesthetic and any overnight stay add cost. So does a longer operation for larger cases.
4
Surgeon seniority
Even contour, a natural nipple position, and minimal scarring reward experience. The cheapest operator is rarely the most experienced.
5
What the package includes
Abroad, the garment, medication, tests, hotel, and transfers may be bundled. At home they are usually itemised.
Why it costs less abroad

Cheaper, but why.

The saving abroad is mostly lower wages and facility costs, a favourable exchange rate, and strong competition, not lesser care by default. Many hubs quote an inclusive package, including the compression garment and medication, that looks far cheaper than an itemised home quote.

What you should not lose in a cheap package is the assessment. Enlarged male breasts can be fatty tissue that responds to weight loss, true glandular gynecomastia that needs excision, or rarely a sign of another medical issue. A proper consultation works out which you have. A quote that skips that step to keep the price down can lead to the wrong operation or a poor result.

The honest comparison

When cheaper is not better.

Price is one line in a longer sum. Read this before a low quote makes the decision for you.

Add the travel and recovery. Flights, hotel, food, and time off belong in the sum, and you should not fly home too soon after a chest operation.

Mind the clot risk. Surgery followed by a flight raises the risk of a blood clot in the leg or lung. Agree how long to stay before travelling, and take the advised precautions.

When abroad is a poor idea. If you have not had the cause assessed, if a clinic prices only liposuction for clearly glandular tissue, or if you cannot return for review, the cheaper headline is a false economy.

Before you compare prices

Five things to confirm in writing.

01

Diagnosis and plan

Confirm the surgeon has assessed whether you have fatty or glandular tissue, and that the plan removes the gland if needed, not only liposuction of fat.

02

Who actually operates

Ask which named, licensed surgeon performs your surgery, not just who runs the consultation. A price far below the market can mean a junior or a technician does the work.

03

What the price covers

Get a written breakdown. Surgeon fee, anaesthetic, facility, tests, garments, medication, nights of stay, and aftercare are often quoted separately or left out.

04

Accreditation and follow up

Confirm the facility is properly authorised and ask, in writing, how follow up, revision, and any complication are handled once you are home.

05

Insurance and the return trip

Standard travel insurance rarely covers elective surgery or its complications. Check cover, and agree how long to stay before flying back.

We never name or rank a clinic. Use these points to judge any clinic you are sent, and if the answers are vague or you feel rushed, treat that as your answer. When you are ready, Get Matched and compare like for like.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

Why is gynecomastia surgery cheaper abroad?

Lower labour and facility costs, a favourable exchange rate, and competition, often sold as an inclusive package. A price far below the market is the figure to question.

Is liposuction alone enough?

Often not. True gynecomastia involves firm glandular tissue that liposuction may not remove. A liposuction only quote is cheaper but may leave the problem behind, so confirm the diagnosis and plan.

What is left out of the headline price?

Travel, hotel beyond included nights, anaesthetic if separate, tests, the garment, medication, and revision cover. Ask for an itemised quote.

Is flying home soon after safe?

Flying soon after surgery raises the risk of a blood clot. Agree how long to stay before you travel and follow the clinic and airline advice on precautions.
