Dental implants cost, the real total.

The headline price for an implant abroad can look a fraction of home, but it rarely tells the whole story. Here is the indicative cost per tooth and per arch, what the price often leaves out, and why abroad differs. We never name a clinic.

A cheap headline price often excludes the abutment, the crown, scans, or any bone grafting you may need, so the real total can be far higher.
Quick answer

What does an implant really cost?

A single tooth implant abroad commonly costs about six hundred to fifteen hundred pounds for the implant, abutment, and crown, against roughly two thousand to four thousand five hundred at a UK private clinic, a saving of around 50 to 80 percent. Full arch work runs from about three thousand pounds per arch abroad against ten thousand to eighteen thousand in the UK.

These are indicative ranges, reviewed April 2025, not a quote. Bone grafting, a sinus lift, extra crowns, and follow up visits are common add ons that the headline figure may not include.

What it really costs

The price, honestly.

Abroad, implant work often runs a half to a fifth of UK pricing for comparable treatment, mostly because of lower labour and facility costs and a competitive market, not lower quality by default. Price is driven by the number of implants, the brand and materials used, the crown, and any preparatory work such as grafting.

Indicative ranges, reviewed April 2025. Not a quote. A price far below the rest of the market often excludes parts of the treatment, so always confirm what is covered.

Always confirm in writing what the price covers, what is extra, and what currency you are billed in. US pricing is typically higher again, often several thousand dollars per implant tooth.

What drives the price

Why two quotes can mean different things.

How many implants, and the brand. An implant from a long established system with a strong track record usually costs more than a budget alternative. Ask which brand is used and whether spare parts will be available near home.

The crown and materials. The headline implant price often excludes the abutment and the final crown, which can be a significant part of the cost. Confirm whether the quote is for the implant alone or the finished tooth.

Preparatory work. Bone grafting or a sinus lift to build up the jaw, and any extractions, add cost and time. Not everyone needs them, but they are common and are easy to leave off a first estimate.

The hidden total. Flights, accommodation, a second trip to fit the crown, and follow up all add up. Implants are usually a staged treatment over months, not a single visit, so budget for the whole journey.

Why total cost matters more

The cheapest quote is rarely the true cost.

Implants are designed to last many years, so a saving that comes at the cost of a poor result or a failed implant is no saving at all. A revision or a repeat treatment, arranged from another country, can cost far more than the difference you saved.

Because protocols and inclusions vary, ask every clinic to itemise the same things before you compare: the implant brand, the abutment, the crown, any grafting, the number of visits, and what aftercare and any guarantee cover.

Before you pay, confirm: whether the price is per implant or per finished tooth, what preparatory work is included, the cost of a second visit, and how a complication or revision would be handled once you are home.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

How much is a single dental implant abroad?

Indicatively about six hundred to fifteen hundred pounds for the implant, abutment, and crown, against roughly two thousand to four thousand five hundred at a UK private clinic. Reviewed June 2026 and not a quote.

Why are implants so much cheaper abroad?

Mostly lower labour and facility costs and a competitive market, not lower quality by default. A price far below the rest of the market, though, often excludes the crown, grafting, or follow up, so check what is included.

What does the headline price often leave out?

Commonly the abutment, the final crown, scans, bone grafting or a sinus lift, extra crowns, and a second visit to fit the permanent teeth. Ask whether the quote is per implant or per finished tooth.

Does the implant brand affect the cost?

Yes. Implants from long established systems usually cost more than budget alternatives. It matters because spare parts and servicing are easier to find for well known brands if you need work done near home later.

Is the cheapest quote the best value?

Not necessarily. Implants are meant to last years, so a failed or poorly placed implant is expensive to put right from abroad. Compare the full itemised total and the aftercare, not just the headline figure.
