Makeover results and aftercare, made to last.

A good makeover should look natural, not obviously artificial, and the restorations commonly last ten to fifteen years. How long they last depends as much on your care and your habits as on the dentistry. Here is what to expect and how to protect it. We never name a clinic.

Quick answer

What results can you expect?

A good makeover gives an even, natural looking smile that suits your face, not an obviously artificial one. The veneers or crowns commonly last about ten to fifteen years, with care. The result depends on the plan, the material, and your daily habits, and the natural teeth and gums underneath still need brushing, flossing, and regular checks.

These are typical lifespans, reviewed September 2025, not a promise. Grinding, staining foods, and poor hygiene shorten the life of any restoration. This is general information, not medical advice.

What good results look like

A smile that looks like yours.

The best makeovers look natural and proportionate to your face. A row of bright, identical teeth can look artificial, so a careful plan keeps some character.

A natural look. Good shade, shape, and translucency make restorations look like real teeth. A preview or mock up agreed before treatment is how you avoid a result that feels too white or too uniform.

A comfortable bite. The new shape should feel even when you close. Small adjustments in the first weeks are normal as you settle in.

Clean, healthy margins. Where each veneer or crown meets the tooth should be smooth and sealed, so nothing collects underneath. This protects the result long term.

A realistic lifespan. Veneers and crowns commonly last about ten to fifteen years, longer with good care. These are typical figures, not guarantees, and a full set will likely need replacing at some point.

How to care for it

Aftercare that makes it last.

The temporary stage. If your permanent restorations are made off site, you wear temporaries for a week or two. Avoid hard and sticky foods, brush gently, and take care with very hot or cold foods that can loosen temporary cement.

Daily care. Brush twice a day and floss daily, paying attention to the gum line where each restoration meets the tooth. Veneers and crowns cannot decay, but the natural tooth beneath them can.

Protect them from force. Avoid biting ice and very hard foods, and ask about a night guard if you grind your teeth, which is a main cause of veneers chipping and crowns failing early.

Mind staining and keep up checks. Natural teeth and the edges of restorations can stain, so go easy on heavy staining foods and drinks. A dental review about every six months catches a loose margin or early decay before it grows.

The follow up problem

When the clinic is far away.

Aftercare is the part of treatment abroad that is easiest to overlook and most likely to cost you later. A veneer that chips or a crown that loosens is simple to fix when your dentist is local, and a real problem when the clinic is in another country.

Because a full set will eventually need replacing, you are also signing up to a long term commitment. Find out before you travel who would handle a problem once you are home, whether the clinic includes a guarantee and a remake, and whether a dentist at home would adjust or replace the work. Keep your treatment records and scans, because a local dentist will want them.

A practical plan: budget for a check with a dentist at home after you return, keep all paperwork, and know in advance what a repair or replacement would cost. The result is only as good as the care that keeps it sound.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

How long do smile makeover results last?

Veneers and crowns commonly last about ten to fifteen years, longer with good care. A full set will likely need replacing at some point, and each replacement has a cost. Longevity is typical, not guaranteed.

Will my new smile look natural?

A good plan suits the result to your face rather than making every tooth bright and identical. Agreeing a preview or mock up first is how you avoid an artificial look.

Can the teeth under restorations still decay?

Yes. The veneers and crowns cannot decay, but the natural tooth at the margin can, which is why daily brushing and flossing and regular checks matter.

Do I need a night guard?

If you grind your teeth, a night guard can protect veneers and crowns from chipping or failing early. Ask your dentist whether one is right for you.

What if a restoration fails after I am home?

Plan for it before you travel. Keep your records and scans, know the guarantee and remake terms, and budget for a check with a dentist at home after you return.
