The one honest thing
A tummy tuck is major surgery with a long scar. A price far below the market usually means something has been left out.
Quick answer

Is it cheaper abroad?

A tummy tuck abroad commonly runs from about £3,000 for an all inclusive package, against roughly £4,500 to £8,000 privately in the UK and total US costs often in the region of $11,000 to $15,000. Savings of 50 to 70 percent are common, mostly from lower costs rather than lower quality.

Indicative ranges, reviewed August 2025, that vary by the type of tummy tuck, whether muscle repair or liposuction is added, and what the package covers. These are not a quote and not a promise of a result.

What it really costs

The price, honestly.

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is major surgery to remove excess skin and fat and often to repair the abdominal muscles. Abroad it often runs roughly a half to a third of UK or US pricing for comparable work, mostly because of lower labour and facility costs and a competitive market, not lower quality by default.

Indicative ranges, reviewed August 2025. Not a quote. A headline price far below the rest of the market often means a key cost, or a qualified surgeon, has been left out.

Abroad figures reflect all inclusive package pricing reported for popular destinations, converted approximately. The US surgeon fee alone averaged about $8,174 in recent industry figures, before anaesthesia and facility costs. Always confirm in writing what the price covers and the billing currency.

What drives the price

Why two quotes differ.

The type of tummy tuck, muscle repair, and any added liposuction move the price more than the country does.

A tummy tuck is priced by the work involved, so quotes vary widely for good reasons. The main drivers are the type of procedure, a mini, full, or extended tummy tuck, whether the abdominal muscles are repaired, and whether liposuction is added to contour the waist. A full tummy tuck with muscle repair costs more than a mini.

Anaesthesia matters too, since a tummy tuck is done under general anaesthetic in a hospital theatre, with a hospital stay in many cases. Surgeon experience, the facility, the garments, medication, and any included reviews or revision all feed into the total.

A genuine quote should itemise these. If a price is quoted before anyone has assessed how much skin and fat you have and whether you need muscle repair, treat it as marketing rather than a real estimate.

Why abroad differs, and the catch

Cheaper is not simpler.

Lower cost abroad is mostly structural, not a discount on safety. The catch is that the same market that lowers prices also rewards the cheapest possible offer.

Lower labour and facility costs, favourable exchange rates, and fierce competition all push prices down in popular destinations, often without lowering quality at a properly accredited clinic. That is the honest upside.

The downside is that the very cheapest offers can cut corners on surgeon time, theatre standards, aftercare, and what happens if something goes wrong. A tummy tuck is major surgery with a real recovery, so a package price that looks far below the rest of the market is a reason to ask more questions, not fewer.

Budget for the full trip, not just the surgery: flights, extra nights of accommodation, garments and medication, time off work, and dedicated cover for complications. Build these in before you compare.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

How much does a tummy tuck cost abroad?

Indicatively from about £3,000 for a full tummy tuck in an all inclusive package, with mini tummy tucks a little lower and extended ones higher. Reviewed June 2026. Always get an itemised written quote, since price depends on your assessment.

Why is a tummy tuck cheaper abroad?

Mostly lower labour and facility costs, exchange rates, and strong competition, not lower quality by default. A price far below the rest of the market, though, can be a warning sign.

What is not included in the headline price?

Often flights, extra accommodation nights, garments and medication, time off work, and complications cover. Always confirm in writing exactly what the package covers and the billing currency.

Is a tummy tuck ever available on the NHS?

It is almost never funded for cosmetic reasons. It is occasionally considered for specific medical situations, decided case by case. Most people pay privately.

Does a higher price mean a better result?

Not on its own. Surgeon experience, facility standards, and patient selection matter more than headline price. Use the questions on our what to ask guides to judge any quote.
