The one honest thing
Vaser is a tool, not a guarantee. The surgeon matters far more than the machine.
Quick answer

How do I choose safely?

Vaser liposuction is surgery, and the result depends on the surgeon, not the device. Confirm a qualified surgeon experienced with Vaser, an accredited facility, a clear anaesthesia plan, realistic expectations about skin tightening, and aftercare and complication cover, all in writing.

This is general guidance, reviewed October 2025, to help you assess any clinic you are matched with. It is not medical advice and not a substitute for a qualified doctor.

How to choose and what to ask

Seven questions before you pay.

Vaser is a tool, not a guarantee, so most of these questions are about the surgeon, not the machine. A safe clinic answers all seven in writing. We do not name clinics, so use these to judge any you are sent.

1
Who performs the surgery, and what are their credentials?
Ask for the named surgeon, their specialist plastic surgery qualifications, and their experience with Vaser specifically. The result depends far more on the surgeon than on the device.
2
Is Vaser right for me, or would traditional liposuction do?
A good surgeon explains why a technique suits your case rather than upselling. Vaser may help with fibrous areas or definition, but it is not automatically better for everyone.
3
What skin tightening can I realistically expect?
Vaser can offer modest skin tightening from the ultrasound energy, but it is limited. Be wary of anyone promising dramatic tightening, and ask what happens if your skin is loose.
4
Is the facility accredited, and what anaesthesia is used?
Ask where the operation happens, the facility's accreditation, the anaesthesia plan, and who administers and monitors it. An office room is not an accredited surgical facility.
5
How many areas, and how much fat, in one session?
Large volume removal in a single session raises risk. A careful surgeon discusses safe limits and may stage treatment rather than promise everything at once.
6
What does aftercare include, and how does follow up work at home?
Ask about garments, reviews, who to contact with concerns, and how follow up and any revision work once you are back in your own country. Get the revision policy in writing.
7
What happens, and who pays, if there is a complication?
Agree in advance how complications and revisions are handled, including cost, and ask about dedicated complications cover, since standard travel insurance rarely covers elective surgery.
The warning signs

Red flags worth heeding.

None of these alone proves a clinic is unsafe, but together they are a reason to slow down and ask more.

Selling the machine, not the surgeon

Heavy marketing of the Vaser brand with little detail about who operates it is a distraction. The surgeon is what matters.

Standard liposuction sold as Vaser

Confirm in writing that the price is for Vaser specifically and that the named surgeon operates the device.

Promises of dramatic skin tightening

The tightening effect is modest. Claims that sound too good usually are.

Pressure and prices far below the market

Limited time discounts, deposits before assessment, and quotes far cheaper than everyone else are sales tactics, not clinical care.

Questions specific to travelling

The part that travel adds.

The questions above still apply, plus a few that only matter when you fly home after surgery.

Ask how long to stay in the country before flying, since early flights after an operation carry a clot risk. Ask how reviews happen once you are home, by video or with a local doctor, and who is responsible if a revision is needed.

Keep written copies of your operation notes, the technique and products used, and your aftercare plan. A local doctor treating a complication will need them, and overseas clinics are not always quick to share records later.

Check that your consent and aftercare materials are in a language you fully understand before you sign anything.

Get Matched with a vetted clinic

Now you know what to ask, compare safely.

Send one brief and we route it to vetted clinics that meet the standards above. They return tailored plans and all in prices. You choose, with no pressure.

Free and no obligation. Accredited clinics only. We never sell your details.

We reply within two working days. Your details are never sold.

How we make money: the guides are free and no clinic can pay to be named, ranked or recommended. We never name clinics. Get Matched is an optional service that helps keep the guides free and independent of any one clinic; using it is always your choice and you are never charged. How this works.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

What is the most important question for Vaser?

Who performs the surgery and how experienced they are with Vaser. The technique helps in trained hands, but the surgeon, not the machine, drives the result.

Is Vaser better than traditional liposuction?

Not automatically. Vaser may help with fibrous areas or definition and offers modest skin tightening, but a good surgeon explains why a technique suits your case rather than upselling it.

How much skin tightening does Vaser give?

Modest tightening from the ultrasound energy, not a substitute for a skin removing procedure. Be cautious of anyone promising dramatic results, especially if your skin is loose.

How do I know the price is really for Vaser?

Ask the clinic to confirm in writing that the quote is for Vaser specifically and that the named surgeon operates the device, since standard liposuction is sometimes marketed as Vaser.

What should I arrange before travelling?

Confirm how long to wait before flying, how follow up and any revision will work once home, who pays for complications, and keep written copies of your operation notes and aftercare plan.
