Same day teeth is real, but the final bridge comes months later, so abroad often still means a second trip.
Quick answer

Is it worth going abroad?

All on 4 replaces a full arch of teeth with a fixed bridge anchored on just four implants, two straight at the front and two angled at the back to use available bone. Abroad it commonly costs from about £3,500 to £8,000 per arch, against roughly £12,000 to £18,000 in the UK, a saving of around 50% to 70%. A temporary bridge is often fitted the same day, but the permanent one is made months later once healing is complete, so a single short trip is rarely the whole story.

Costs below are indicative ranges, reviewed May 2025, and vary by arch, materials, whether extractions or grafting are needed, and what a package includes. They are not a quote and not a promise of a result.

What it is

The procedure, in plain terms.

All on 4 is a full arch solution for people who have lost or are losing most of their teeth. Four implants are placed in the jaw, with the two rear implants angled to anchor into denser bone and often avoid the need for grafting. A fixed bridge of replacement teeth is attached to those four posts. Many clinics fit a temporary bridge on the same day, then replace it with a stronger permanent bridge after three to six months of healing. It is a fixed alternative to dentures, not a set of individual implants for every tooth.

Who it tends to suit. People missing most or all of the teeth in an arch, or facing that, who want a fixed solution rather than removable dentures, with enough bone for the angled implants and the ability to return for the final bridge.

Who it tends not to suit. People with untreated gum disease or infection, heavy smokers, those with poorly controlled diabetes, and anyone who cannot commit to healing time and follow up. Severe bone loss may need grafting or a different approach.

What it really costs

The price, honestly.

Abroad, a full arch often costs a half to a third of UK pricing, largely because of lower labour and facility costs and a competitive market. Price is driven by the materials of the final bridge, whether teeth need extracting first, any grafting, and what a package includes.

Indicative ranges, reviewed May 2025. Not a quote. The cheapest quotes often use a basic acrylic final bridge. Ask what material the permanent bridge is and how many trips the price assumes.

Risks and safety

What can go wrong.

All on 4 is well studied, with five year success rates above 95% in good hands. The risks mirror other implant work, with extra weight on planning and the temptation to rush the final result.

Implant failure

As with any implant, a share fail to fuse or fail later. Because the whole bridge rests on four posts, the loss of one implant is more consequential than losing one of many.

Gum disease around the implants

Inflammation that destroys bone around the implants is the main longer term threat, and a fixed full arch can be harder to clean. Meticulous hygiene and regular professional care are essential.

Rushing the permanent bridge

Same day temporary teeth are normal, but loading a final bridge before the bone has healed can raise the failure rate. A careful plan stages the permanent bridge months later.

Bite, fit and speech issues

A full arch must be aligned correctly. A poorly fitted bridge can cause bite problems, discomfort, and speech changes that need adjustment, which is awkward to arrange from abroad.

The follow up problem when abroad

If an implant fails or the bridge needs adjustment after you are home, local dentists are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work, and warranty claims may require returning. Agree this in advance.

How to choose and what to ask

Six questions before you pay.

A safe clinic stages the treatment honestly, is clear about the final bridge material, and answers all six in writing. Be wary of a full permanent smile promised in one short trip.

1
What material is the permanent bridge?
Acrylic, composite, and zirconia differ in durability and price. Ask what the quote includes and what an upgrade costs.
2
How many trips and how long between them?
A proper plan usually places implants and a temporary bridge first, then fits the permanent bridge after healing. Ask for the real timeline.
3
Which implant brand and system will you use?
Confirm it is a recognised system whose parts a dentist at home can service if needed.
4
Will you plan with a 3D scan?
CBCT imaging and guided placement reduce the risk of nerve and sinus problems, which matters with angled implants. Ask how surgery is planned.
5
Is the clinic and dentist properly licensed and accredited?
Check the dentist's registration and the clinic's authorisation. In Turkey, look for Ministry of Health health tourism authorisation.
6
What is the warranty and what if it fails at home?
Get any guarantee in writing, and agree who pays for revision, whether a local dentist can help, and how follow up works from another country.
Aftercare and the follow up problem

Recovery, and what happens once you are home.

01

First trip

Any remaining teeth are removed, four implants are placed, and a temporary bridge is often fitted the same day. Expect swelling and a soft food diet for a while.

02

3 to 6 months

The implants fuse to the bone while you wear the temporary bridge at home. This healing period should not be rushed.

03

Second trip

The permanent bridge is fitted and the bite adjusted. This is usually a separate visit, which is why two trips are common.

04

Long term

With good cleaning and regular checks, a full arch can last many years. Ongoing professional gum care protects the implants.

The follow up problem

Once you are home, a failing implant or an ill fitting bridge is hard to manage remotely, and local dentists are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work. Agree before you travel how revisions, the warranty, and follow up will be handled.

Insurance and complication cover

Standard travel insurance rarely covers elective procedures or their complications. Read the policy closely and consider dedicated medical complications cover before you book.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

How much does All on 4 cost abroad?

A full arch commonly costs from about £3,500 to £8,000 abroad, against roughly £12,000 to £18,000 in the UK. These are indicative ranges and vary by materials and case.

Do I get teeth the same day?

Often a temporary bridge is fitted the same day, but the stronger permanent bridge is made months later once the implants have fused, so a second trip is common.

How long does All on 4 last?

Studies show five year success rates above 95% in good hands, and a well maintained arch can last many years. It still depends on cleaning and regular professional care.

Is four implants enough?

For many people, yes, with the rear implants angled to use available bone. Cases needing more support may be advised to consider six implants instead.

What if something fails once I am home?

Local dentists are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work, and warranty claims may need a return trip. Agree revisions and follow up in writing before you travel.
