The one honest thing
More implants is not automatically better. It needs more bone, and four can be enough for many people.
Quick answer

Is it worth going abroad?

All on 6 replaces a full arch of teeth with a fixed bridge anchored on six implants rather than four, spreading the chewing load and adding stability for people with enough bone. Abroad it commonly costs from about £4,500 to £10,000 per arch, against roughly £14,000 to £25,000 in the UK. The most rigorous head to head trials find both four and six implants give five year success rates above 95%, so more is not automatically better. It suits some cases, not all.

Costs below are indicative ranges, reviewed September 2025, and vary by arch, materials, bone condition, and what a package includes. They are not a quote and not a promise of a result.

What it is

The procedure, in plain terms.

All on 6 works like All on 4 but uses six implants per arch to support the fixed bridge. The extra posts spread the biting force more evenly and can give greater stability, which is why it is often suggested for heavy chewers, people who grind their teeth, or those who want the most durable long term result and have the bone to support it. It usually needs more bone volume than All on 4, and where bone is limited, the angled four implant approach or grafting may be the better route. A temporary bridge is often fitted early, with the permanent one after healing.

Who it tends to suit. People who have lost most or all of an arch, have good bone volume, and want maximum stability, including heavy chewers and those who grind, who can return for the final bridge.

Who it tends not to suit. People with significant bone loss who would need extensive grafting, untreated gum disease, heavy smokers, poorly controlled diabetes, and anyone who cannot commit to healing time and follow up. For some, four implants are perfectly adequate.

What it really costs

The price, honestly.

Abroad, a six implant arch often costs a half to a third of UK pricing, and a little more than All on 4 because of the two extra implants and the added surgical and prosthetic work. Price is driven by the bridge material, bone condition, any grafting, and what a package includes.

Indicative ranges, reviewed September 2025. Not a quote. Do not assume six implants are worth the extra in your case. A good clinic explains honestly whether four or six suits your bone and bite.

Risks and safety

What can go wrong.

All on 6 is well studied, with five year success rates above 95% in good hands and no clear advantage over four implants in the trials. The risks mirror other implant work.

Implant failure

A share of implants fail to fuse or fail later. Six posts share the load, so losing one is less catastrophic than with four, but failure still happens and smoking and diabetes raise the risk.

Gum disease around the implants

Inflammation that destroys bone around the implants is the main longer term threat, and a fixed full arch can be harder to clean. Meticulous hygiene and regular professional care are essential.

Needing bone grafting

Six implants demand enough bone. If a clinic places six where the bone is marginal, the risk rises. Grafting adds healing time and cost and should be discussed honestly.

Rushing the permanent bridge

Same day temporary teeth are normal, but loading a final bridge before the bone has healed can raise the failure rate. A careful plan stages the permanent bridge months later.

The follow up problem when abroad

If an implant fails or the bridge needs adjustment once you are home, local dentists are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work, and warranty claims may require returning. Agree this in advance.

How to choose and what to ask

Six questions before you pay.

A safe clinic explains honestly whether four or six implants suit your case, is clear on the bridge material, and answers all six in writing. Be wary of an upsell to six without a bone reason.

1
Do I actually need six implants?
Ask the clinic to justify six over four for your bone and bite. The evidence shows both work well, so six should be recommended for a reason, not by default.
2
What material is the permanent bridge?
Acrylic, composite, and zirconia differ in durability and price. Ask what the quote includes and what an upgrade costs.
3
How many trips and how long between them?
A proper plan places implants and a temporary bridge first, then fits the permanent bridge after healing. Ask for the real timeline.
4
Will you plan with a 3D scan?
CBCT imaging and guided placement reduce the risk of nerve and sinus problems and confirm there is enough bone for six implants.
5
Is the clinic and dentist properly licensed and accredited?
Check the dentist's registration and the clinic's authorisation. In Turkey, look for Ministry of Health health tourism authorisation.
6
What is the warranty and what if it fails at home?
Get any guarantee in writing, and agree who pays for revision, whether a local dentist can help, and how follow up works from another country.
Aftercare and the follow up problem

Recovery, and what happens once you are home.

01

First trip

Any remaining teeth are removed, six implants are placed, and a temporary bridge is often fitted the same day. Expect swelling and a soft food diet for a while.

02

3 to 6 months

The implants fuse to the bone while you wear the temporary bridge at home. This healing period should not be rushed.

03

Second trip

The permanent bridge is fitted and the bite adjusted. This is usually a separate visit, which is why two trips are common.

04

Long term

With good cleaning and regular checks, a full arch can last many years. Ongoing professional gum care protects the implants.

The follow up problem

Once you are home, a failing implant or an ill fitting bridge is hard to manage remotely, and local dentists are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work. Agree before you travel how revisions, the warranty, and follow up will be handled.

Insurance and complication cover

Standard travel insurance rarely covers elective procedures or their complications. Read the policy closely and consider dedicated medical complications cover before you book.

Common questions

The things everyone asks.

How much does All on 6 cost abroad?

A full arch commonly costs from about £4,500 to £10,000 abroad, against roughly £14,000 to £25,000 in the UK. These are indicative ranges and vary by materials, bone, and case.

Is All on 6 better than All on 4?

Not automatically. The most rigorous trials show both give five year success above 95%. Six implants spread the load and suit good bone and heavy chewers, but four are enough for many people.

Do I need more bone for six implants?

Generally yes. Six implants demand enough bone volume. Where bone is limited, the angled four implant approach or grafting may be the better route.

Do I get teeth the same day?

Often a temporary bridge is fitted the same day, but the permanent bridge is made months later once the implants have fused, so a second trip is common.

What if something fails once I am home?

Local dentists are often reluctant to take on another clinic's work, and warranty claims may need a return trip. Agree revisions and follow up in writing before you travel.
